Apurva - Bibliophiles

Bibliophiles started in Sept 2020 but it really started when I was told to read to my unborn baby. My Lamaz coach told me to read anything, magazines, newspapers but when I thought how is my baby really going to benefit from me reading to her about the India-China trade war? There must be more books out there that can benefit her in more ways. That’s when I threw myself into research.

I had opened a pandora’s box. I had no idea before this that a book could help in a childs physical development as well. I learnt that giving black and white high contrast books to babies from 0-6m helps them develop their vision and helps them focus! A child when born has undeveloped vision and can only see black, white and red. Hence the colour of the mothers areola is red, so that the child can easily locate the breast and feed itself. Reading books with calming content and content focused on the coming child in the prenatal stage will calm the mother, reduce anxiety and release Endorphins or happy hormones in mothers which in turn reduce complications in the baby’s development.

I was amazed and wanted to learn more and wanted these books for my baby. I started ordering directly from the publishers in USA, UK and Australia when I was not able to find them locally. When I started talking about the benefits of these books on various parenting forums, my fellow moms started asking me to order more copies when I import these books as they wanted them for themselves as well as their relatives. That’s how it all started. One bibliophile mom wanting her baby to love books as much as her, turned into an entrepreneur with a mission to help other parents help their children develop a love for reading.

We want to create a reading lifestyle. Reading to be an indispensible part of a child’s life, as easy and simple as brushing your teeth or having lunch. We make personalised recommendations of books depending on the childs age, interest, reading level and how early they have been introduced to books. This helps us pick the right books for children increasing the probability of the child accepting and loving books.

We now serve 5000+ parents and children from 5 countries. We have our own website www.bibliophiles.in, have our Instagram page @bibliophilesbooklovers and have 10 What’s app groups where we regularly showcase out latest collection. Parents can even drop us a Whats App message anytime on 8779660515 and we will be happy to answer any queries.
