Carry 4 things and become a Zero-waste shopper

It simply starts with just carrying a few things before you step out of the house.

1. Carry a cloth bag when you step out of the house

Well we all got impulses, that's a sudden urge to buy something when you are out and about. Having a cloth bag will stop you from feeling guilty of either not purchasing the essential product that has been pending on your list and most definitely make a statement to the store owner who without a neuron cell activated, hand your supplies in a plastic bag.

2. Carry a variety of small bags too

A big bag is good for loading it with smaller bags. But a Zero-Waster would know that its important to get the daily necessities in segregated bags so that it's easier to sort things once you are back home.

Smaller bags can help you purchase spices, condiments, eggs or any other such items which would easily fit back in your large cloth bag.

Most small cloth bags or potli’s also double up as fridge bags, keeping your produce fresher for longer in your fridge. They are machine friendly too, so just toss them with your regular wash to have a clean bag every time.

3. Don't forget Tiffin size boxes

If you are like me and my wife, then most times you must also be falling prey to either chats or some piping hot delicacies prepared fresh in front of you. Trust me, sometimes the box is all you need and probably a good exercise regime.

4. Carry a bottle of water

Well given all that shopping, it's gonna dehydrate you at some point. Better be prepared in advance. And if you are able to gulp all of that water down, you have a bottle to carry back liquid items like Milk, lassi, coconut water or any juices that you fancy for later.

Zero-waste living is not as difficult as it sounds, it does require some additional planning and that will to go the extra mile to find things unpacked. But it's certainly rewarding.

Baby Steps as they call them. Carrying these 4, wouldn't convert you into a zero-waster overnight, but it's something that will enable you to initiate your journey towards loving the planet more and helping towards keeping our vicinity and city cleaner.

If you are in search of tips to find products here in Mumbai, give us a shout out on our insta handle and we shall help out in our best capacity to help you find a store retailing unpacked produce.
