Diksha Pande - Co-Founder at Samosa Party

Q1. Tell us a bit about yourself and your family?

I hail from Nainital where I was fortunate to get early education at one of the premier schools in India. We are a family of 3 siblings and my father worked for the State Govt.

Q2. Why Samosa's? Have you had any formal training or family business?

Samosa is the undisputed king of Indian Snacks. After working for hotels and QSRs for more than a decade I realised what a large opportunity Indian QSR and snack market was. But unfortunately no one was trying to create a national level brand here. So along with my co founder we studied the market and launched Samosa Party after a lot of research

Q3. What inspired you to take this challenge, and organise an industry / product that’s highly unorganised when it comes to Indian market?

Indian consumer market is so large. We see brands built on very niche and artisanal products. We wanted to pick up a larger opportunity with a much greater impact. Sure it is more difficult and execution heavy but it has much greater potential. We didn't want to be a me too brand. Instead we wanted to be a trailblazer leading a really large market

Q4. What has been your proudest moment?

There are a few. As an entrepreneur you're most proud with customer recognition. So there was a time when some of my colleagues, co founder and I were attending a comedy show. When the stand up comic asked for our intro and we said Samosa Party the crowd started clapping and cheering. That was a very surreal moment and we realised that our brand brings joy to so many people.

Q5. What are some of the biggest challenges you faced as an entrepreneur?

Last year was a year of uncertainty. So in between Covid keeping our teams safe and healthy, making sure the customers expectations are met and business goals are met. Balancing everything the last few quarters has been tough. We have been successful at managing all of these though

Q6. What advice would you give to someone thinking of starting out?

Number one- Have a plan a very detailed plan and don't hesitate in getting some experts to evaluate.

Number two- plans are great but execution is where the fomula of success is hidden. So don't hesitate to be hands on in execution. Thats the fastest way to learn and grow

Q7. Given a chance would you alter any of your life decisions?

I am very happy with my personal and professional standing. Wouldn't change anything.
