Dr. Baani Yadav is the most experienced & consistent driver with an exceptional track record. She has left a mark in a predominantly male sport with very few women competing, and even fewer winning. Hailing from a family of car enthusiasts, Dr. Baani’s interest in racing stems from her father, who is a mechanical engineer and used to modify cars when she was young.
However, despite being exposed to racing early on, she set foot in the professional motor sporting circuit in 2013 and ended up being placed second in the Women’s category. This win marks the beginning of her iconic journey.
Dr. Baani Yadav is India’s fastest wom- an rally racer, the only Indian woman to win all major Rally Titles in the coun- try in the Women’s Category in a year.
She believes that every race/rally is in itself a big achievement as it is what keeps her passion to outperform her last race. However, the highlight of her career is when she won the Asia Pacific Rally Cup in women category in 2015 and Rally DE North in 2016 where she became the first woman to ever secure the overall 2nd position.
Dr. Baani Yadav has been breaking and creating records since 2013 and is counted amongst the top rally drivers of the country today.
Being the natural leader she is, it is her dream to open a Motorsport Driving School in Haryana to further empower the women of this wonderful state. She wants to see many more women participate in Motorsport and become role models in doing so. It would be her way of contributing to and giving back to the state that she calls home.
Dr. Baani happily credits two men for shaping her life - her father, an “Inspirationâ€, and her husband, Suresh Yadav, her “Backboneâ€. Continuing the legacy, Dr. Baani wants to extend the same support and inspiration to the society as her way of contributing to and giving back to our country.
“ When you know somebody is watching your back, is when you know that you can really truly go all out to achieve what you so dearly want.â€
In an effort to level the playground for women in various spheres, she is an active facilitator of women empowerment and equal rights. She believes in translating the capacity of women into reality. She is very passionate about initiatives like “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao'' and “Swachh Bharath Abhiyanâ€. In her endeavour to further facilitate women with spirit of life and power, she also initiated an event specially for Acid-Attack survivors. She believes, Motorsport, in any form, should be open to everyone and we want it to be more accessible and inclusive.†As a natural leader who sets an example by leading from the front, she has also worked in the capacity of a Mentor with NGOs working for women and children welfare.
Apart from the fore-mentioned, she loves animals. She currently fosters 10 dogs, 9 cats, and 2 birds. She's also associated with a number of animal NGO's for animal protection and rights.
