Meet Dr. Kasturi R Naik: A dedicated professional known for providing practical solutions, specializing in human resource management and leadership, and committed to the practice of mindfulness.
Tell us a bit about yourself and your family?
I'm Dr. Kasturi R Naik, and I'm known for offering real-time, straightforward solutions to address complex problems people encounter.
I firmly understand the distinctions between Passion, Profession, and Purpose, and this awareness significantly influences how I shape my life.
With over 11 years of experience in academia and another 5 years in consultancy, I have specialized in the fields of human resource management, leadership, and team building.
Currently, I serve as a visiting faculty at NMIMS – NGASCE, JBIMS, and GNIMS, where I teach MHRD and e-MBA courses.
I've had the privilege of being invited as a guest speaker at prestigious organizations like Taj Wellington Mews Luxury Residences, Novartis Pharmaceuticals, TCS, and Lufthansa Airlines, where I discuss topics related to enhancing personal and professional effectiveness.
I come from Mumbai, and I live here with my family. In my free time, I enjoy reading, listening to soft music, and practicing meditation.
Have you had any formal training or family business?
My credentials include a PhD with Stress Management as my primary research focus, along with degrees in MMS, BPHARM, and DLL.
Additionally, I am internationally certified and licensed as a Heal Your Life Workshop Leader and Life Coach. I hold certifications in Positive Psychology: Resilience Skills, Leadership Skills from HEC Paris, Executive Life Coaching, Image Consulting, Emotional Intelligence, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), and I'm a Certified 2nd Degree Reiki Practitioner.
I've demonstrated my research prowess by publishing over 30 research papers both nationally and internationally. Some of these papers have received recognition with Best Paper Awards at a couple of conferences.
Furthermore, I've had the privilege of contributing to national and international conferences as a discussant and session chair.
In 2015, I received the Best Paper Track Presenter Award at the ABRM International Conference, and in 2016, I was honored with the Best Paper Award at IMRC.
Tell us about your venture and what inspired you to take this challenge, and get started?
I am reliable, conscientious, and dedicated. I am open-minded and tolerant of all customs, values, and traditions.
I am patient and polite, and I do not mind working through things in a caring and encouraging way with others.
I strive to be prompt and efficient in both my personal and professional life.
Additionally, I like to remain approachable.
I have been working with people of different backgrounds, ages, and cultural origins for over 12 years. As an individual, I value others and appreciate their trust.
I believe that my main responsibility is to build rapport and provide a comfortable yet challenging environment for their growth.
I am a crusader for happiness and have chosen to contribute to the field of academics by using strategic organizational development interventions to create happy, self-organized workplaces.
What has been your proudest moment?
My proudest moments have always occurred when one of my students or session participants reconnects with me to share how my sessions have provided them with practical insights to advance in their professional careers and nurture their personal relationships.
What are some of the biggest challenges you faced as an educator?
I would reframe the word "challenges" as "opportunities," which I encountered during my journey as an academician.
Specifically, I focused on building the mindset, motivation, and methodology adaptation acumen of my students and session participants.
The gap in mindset, motivation, and methodology inspired me to undergo formal certification and share my learnings with various stakeholders across the academic domain.
What advice would you give to someone thinking of starting out?
Here are the five philosophies of self-management to reinforce within the organization's culture to help unleash the true essence of the business venture:
- Trust
- Autonomy
- Self-management
- Extreme stakeholder alignment
- Creative innovation
Given a chance would you alter any of your life decisions?
I would relive every moment as it is, as I always believe in the practice of mindfulness.
