How To Support Your Kids Manage Admissions Stress

Admission into top universities has become more competitive these days. Students undergo a lot of stress, induced by anxiety on the verge of building a successful career by making the right choices of college and academics.

Factors like Career goals, Financial support, and staying away from family play a significant role in triggering mental health issues.

Students and their parents both need to plan everything and go according to their planning for a smooth process, starting from choosing the right university course to enter the campus.

How to handle this admission stress?

Well, go through the below tips, which would make this transitional journey easier.

1. Once your child decides the course s/he wants to perceive, do thorough research about the

best universities offering the decided course. As a Parent, share your suggestions and help

your child choose the appropriate universities.

2. Be with your children in this process and understand their requirements about the

universities and help them in the preparation of the list of universities.

3. Not everyone is an expert. If required, it is advisable to seek the help of an experienced

career counselor who can guide you through the key aspects to be focused on choosing the

right course and applying to suitable universities.

4. As Parents, we are always concerned about our children's future, and knowingly or unknowingly, we try to give them advice that might add more to their stress. So instead of

compelling them to choose the university of their choice, giving them the freedom to step ahead with their interest which helps them to be more confident and clear about the process.

5. Help them meet different people who are experts/knowledgeable in this field so that they can get clarity about what to do and how to do it next.

6. The application process involves different tasks which need a lot of time and effort. So help them in finishing their tasks and making timely submissions.

7. As this is a very critical step in building their future, children go through a lot of stress. They

feel anxious and aggressive at times. Understand them and be there for them always by

expending moral support.
