How Unconscious Bias Holds Women Back

"Oh, alright, we will think about it," says a manager whom a lady presented an idea of breaking the departmental silos for collaborative research. Men are assertive, and women… women are emotional! Any idea or plans structured by women are taken for granted, assuming that her idea arose from an emotional viewpoint, not a seed of rational thought!

What is Unconscious Bias?

Unconscious biases are some learned assumptions, beliefs, or attitudes which we aren’t necessarily aware of. It is believed that everyone has these biases and they use them as mental shortcuts for fast-tracking the information process. Women face biases like age bias, gender bias, name bias, and more in several places, wherein she spends most of the daily average time, sprouting low-self esteem, triggering her anxiety, and lowering her morale to build and create something extraordinary!

Women's thoughts backed by logic face oppression at the workplace and in personal life! Men make efficient leaders; Women cannot delegate or embrace ownership are some of the weak bricks that weaken the wall of women's potential, undermining her capabilities and innovative prowess.

As we witness the much-needed emergence, we are happy to see women superseding men, succeeding with amplifying voices and dominating the sphere that they are a part of! From sports and the army to tech and politics, women have shown exemplary performance with their distinctive performance and indomitable spirit!

Instances of Unconscious Biasness

Okay, so here we are to discuss when and where do these customary behaviors of prejudices occur! When men take their kids out to play, they are responsible but for a woman, it's her duty! Men doing the dishes is a heart-warming sight, but for us - a duty to be set right! Men guiding and infusing ideas are creative and dynamic; women leaders are not happening! Why such cliches, and how long will last these storms of resentment against the women community that question her vigilance?

A much-needed Revolution

Women are the pillars of society, holding half the sky alongside their male counterparts. Her will to create a space in society is a marvel of thought that needs to be appreciated and encouraged. She is beyond her societal roles, beyond her domestic chores, and a little more than just - a keeper!

This is an endless debate wherein the urgency to impose gender-neutral rules empowering women and thoughts that beckon equalism must be entertained. We as a society need to respect and spearhead this change that calls for immediate attention as 'her' contribution in the evolution of our community has not yet paused, and her eternal limits to surpass the gusty and tailwind will never cease.
