Joyce Leong was born in 1956 in Malaysia. While having a very enriching and successful corporate career in sales and marketing, was always a sports enthusiast. She’s a very established and decorated athlete having participated in marathons and triathlons around the globe.
In 2006, on her 50th birthday she founded JoyRiders Cycling Club in Singapore and today they are the biggest cycling group in Singapore! With 3000 followers on Facebook and have organized many cycling trips around the world like Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Cambodia, China, Japan, Taiwan, Europe Italy, France, Switzerland, Spain, Australia, NZ, Philipines, USA, Canada and many trips to Malaysia.
JoyRiders won POSB everyday Champions award in 2009 and were awarded in 'The Singapore Book of Record' for the largest convoy of cyclists delivering groceries … to ALL SAINTS HOME sponsored by MediaCorp in Singapore.
JoyRiders were also selected to participate in the Singapore National Day Parade, 2017.
In Oct 2019 she was diagnosed with Stage 3 Cancer, leading to Chemo and major surgery in 2020. But this has not deterred her fighting spirit and is determined to get back on her bicycle to “keep sane” and slowly regain her strength. “Having almost died from cancer has taught me not to take life for granted,” she says. “The experience is proof that motivation and a positive mind helps in the recovery process.”
