KNOW ABOUT YOU ARE A UNIQUE-CORN

As a teacher, the biggest joy I get is to see the students excel. It's a feeling beyond words to know that you have the power to influence someone's life, be a part of someone's life and part of them, forever.

Had teary eyes seeing the movie Taarein Zameen Par. (Pls watch if you haven't still, a second time won't hurt either). An absolutely wonderful movie, giving lessons for life. What it takes to be a good teacher and what is the power of a teacher is!

Personally, I feel, communication can make or break any relationship. And by communication, I don't mean fluent speeches but also effective listening. (Again pls mind the difference between hearing and listening). Another important aspect of communication is to understand the silence. We communicate when we say and also when we don't say! Words, touch, hugs could change lives. It can shatter the confidence, put someone in the dark zone forever or bring out someone from the dark tunnel of self- doubt.

As parents, as teachers, we have a big responsibility. Not to worry for the future of our kids, but to be with them in their journey of exploring themselves. To let them make mistakes, to let them learn and to let them grow, at their own pace. Of course, we are concerned, we want our kids not to hurt themselves. But no kid learnt to walk without shaking and falling. We, as parents and teachers, have to be there to hold them, to give that helping hand and support which helps them to bounce back.

I wish all parents support their kids in doing what they love, keeping aside the success and failure, keeping aside "what society will say". Keeping aside the judgements and comparisons. Remember, we all are Unique. We all are Unique corns having the potential to create magic.

Don't compare them, don't doubt them, don't burden them with your unfulfilled aspirations.

Support them, be with them and guide them. Let them explore life.

This is a reminder to myself, as a teacher, as a parent. So that "Kho na jaye taaren zameen par"!
