The princess who inspires me is Rapunzel. I would relate to her just like she was tied up in a castle and always longed to leave and run away from the castle and become free.... this Covid I realised that we are all tied up in our houses. We all want to break free, break loose and step outside have fun, the outside world.. We did all things that needed to be done, cooking kids and work (professionally).
But there are things we wanted to do exercise (to fit into all the clothes staring at me from the wardrobe), cook (to unleash the master chef in me), to wear my heels and strut around the house(my feel good factor), to dance & sing and karaoke (to feel I’m at a live performance) in the drawing room; to dress up, light candles and music by Kenny G when it was a family members birthday, to try a sit down meal and 6 course dinner, to re-create the ambience of a restaurant in our house, have a dress code (to spice up the evening), and especially to make my mother in law feel special after the loss of her spouse.... learning and love comes in many ways, it is how you take it and what you make of the situation that matters. Kids grow seeing you as a mom doing daily chores but these are life lessons even they do not know that they are learning.
It is only this time that one realised that the freedom, true freedom doesn’t lie outside, it lies within... you need to stop thinking about greed but indulge in and involve in your family, with your family, find things that interest you, create hobbies, take some ‘me time’ and reflect...what we are running towards... is it the true sense of life! Is that what makes us happy being a little clockwork mouse running in circles on a wheel....
It is then you realise that the true freedom lies within ourselves and not to be prisoners of our wants ... to realise that we are free, not from the castle but our own shackles and thus find our own true freedom. I enjoyed my family who are my true source of joy who lend unconditional support to me and let me be me :-)
I’m free, truly free 😊
