Sanjoli Arora founder at Conscious Charcha

Sanjoli Arora is currently working as a Content Strategist. Conscious Charcha is her passion project that helps guide her personal Sustainable journey along with others who read and contribute. Sanjoli is a student of Communication and has a Master's degree in Fashion Journalism from the London College of Fashion. Her work at Conscious Charcha combines Sanjoli's love for reading and writing by bringing easy, small lifestyle guides that can steer individual action to fight the climate crisis.

"Sustainability was always a core value since childhood. Back then it was not labelled as sustainability but had many different forms like not wasting food, taking care of animals, using what I have, repairing things around the house and being mindful of my purchases. The need to do more for the planet & its beings hit me when I attended a climate strike and saw teenagers protesting for better laws and climate action. That image of young kids standing up for something bigger than themselves moved me. That is how I started reading more on the issue and the idea for Conscious Charcha emerged.

Conscious Charcha started as my master's project- a digital publication that could help guide my sustainable journey but also answer several questions that I and people like myself had around sustainable living. I wanted to keep it in an easy to read, bite-size content style so that it doesn't become boring for the readers and motivates them to take small sustainable steps each day. 

I submitted my master's project in December 2020 and felt that was the end of Conscious Charcha. But the overwhelmingly positive response in the months since I started it and after the submission gave me to continue this project. Today we have covered topics like Greenwashing, Waste Management, Slow Fashion, Plastic Waste and Veganism. All of this is possible because of passionate collaborators to contribute and share their story but mostly because of enthusiastic readers who are constantly asking relevant questions for us to answer. There is so much more still to learn and write about!" Says Sanjoli
