Being a professional woman is difficult, especially if you are studying and handling a lot of things on your own, and we often forget to take care of ourselves in the midst of all of this work and studying. This last month has taught me the value of taking pauses and dedicating time to oneself. If you met me in 2018, I would be the healthiest person I'd ever been. I used to work out every day, eat healthily and used to prepare all my meals without being lazy. But as time went on, I became a negative person who ate junk all of the time, had negative thoughts about myself all of the time, skipped workouts almost every day, and made a habit of not exercising. I've developed the habit of not washing my face at all at night. And as a result of all of this, I lost almost all of my friends due to anxiety and not being available for them, developed acute dermatitis as a result of my unhealthy habits, gained a lot of weight because I was eating junk all the time, and suddenly a thought occurred to me that this is too much, that I need to stop for a second and take care of my body and mind, or my life will come crashing down one day very badly, and I might not be able to recover.
I decided to start with a few simple steps, and I'd like to share them with you. If you're battling with the same issue or just getting started on your self-care journey, these steps will be extremely beneficial.
1. Drink water - You all must be thinking that yes, we all know this, and everyone talks about it, but seriously if you don't have time for self-care, just start drinking a lot of water, and you will notice a significant difference in yourself, trust me.
2. Stop using your phone excessively - I know, I know, we're all reading this on our phones, so this is a ridiculous suggestion. However, disconnecting from the outside world is sometimes necessary. We may not realize it, but seeing other people do so much affects our minds, making us feel small in our own minds.
3. If you're too tired to care, wash your face before sleeping - I believe that when we go out in the world, we consume negativity through our skin as well, and if we sleep with all of that negativity still on our faces and bodies, only negative things will happen to our skin, such as acne, breakouts, and dull-looking skin, so please always wash and moisturize your face and hands before sleeping. I won't share many of the steps because the ones that are shared are the most basic ones we need to begin with, and I believe that we should all embark on this self-care journey together. I will share my weekly progress through blogs, and you will share yours by communicating in the comment section. Let's not be alone; let's be together.
It's okay to take breaks. It's okay not to be giving 100% all the time. An adage goes this way, "you can't pour from an empty cup." Take care of yourself before anything else. I don't care if you are taking one or countless breaks. Take as many breaks as you need; the world will wait.❤️
