Soniya and Swapnil are both advertising professionals. Swapnil quit his job 2 years back as he realized its conflicting with his ideals, wherein he was promoting empty consumerism which was resulting in environmental degradation across the globe.
This was shortly after he and his wife (Soniya) had initiated zero waste lifestlye. That happened alongside them turning eco activist to save local forest from being uprooted for human encroachment.
'Our home is a zero waste facility. Our entire shopping is in reusalble containers. The biggest challenge was to find out places which sells non-packaged items.', says Swapnil.
Not having found replacements, they had to give up on few of their favourites like biscuits and confectionary.
But there were essentials that they absolutely needed to which they couldn't find any replacement, and that quest resulted in Re-Earth.in.
They started by making toothpaste for them selves and slowly friend's started requesting to try out. Having received positive feedback, they got a strong push to start manufacturing it for more likeminded people. And to set up an e-store they kept adding more eco products in the product catalogue.
I understand how difficult it gets for people to cope up with the world when you start realizing how many wrongs keep happening in front of you. Which actually compels one to take it upon themselves to change the world. Which might or might not happen, but we can certainly change our world. Its a drop in the ocean, but it helps to know we did the right thing. Says Swapnil.
Team Re-Earth believes human future is in its past. As a species we have survived for thousands of years living sustainable lifestyles, it's only now that industrialisation has driven us to this edge.
