UDITA BANSAL - trueBrowns

Udita Bansal has always shared a strong affinity towards the retail and fashion industry, which according to her is a beautiful amalgamation of numbers, technology and colors. This zeal and passion made her undertake various positions in the sector before finally conceiving her brainchild, trueBrowns in the year 2016.


She started off with a short stint of 5 months at Shahi Exports, followed by a glorious 6 years in Madura Fashion & Lifestyle, Aditya Birla Group where she grew step by step and gained insight about the workings of the apparel industry by indulging in various aspects of planning, retail, inventory, CRM and much more.

An alumni of the National Institute of Fashion Technology where she graduated in Fashion Technology, further Udita enrolled in an online course at the Harvard University in marketing & finance to hone her entrepreneurial skills. A self-perceived disciplinarian, Udita felt a growing gap in the apparel market with regards to high quality clothing at an affordable price and thus, she conceptualized trueBrowns, a sustainable clothing brand, seeking inspiration from traditional Indian roots but offering it in a contemporary style for the women of today. By housing a varied size range from 2XS to 10XL, Udita envisions a go-to-size brand where customization is hassle free and stands firm on its brand ethos of ‘trueYou’ which encourages an extension of one’s personality. 

With an unwavering dedication towards her craft and work, Udita however feels that an equilibrium needs to be attained with respect to one’s personal and professional life and therefore, indulges in various forms of activities and interests whenever she gets the time. An internationally certified yoga instructor, she has also been an avid dancer her entire life, currently undertaking Kathak training. An ardent travel enthusiast, she has a flair for traveling to places close to nature as it helps her unwind and enjoy meditation, another one of her preferred hobbies, which helps her remain centered and energized. 

One of her all-time favorite books which she makes a point to read-through every year is Steve Jobs autobiography, whom she seeks as an inspiration for his will and courage and is an accurate representation of perseverance to achieve one’s dream. 

In closing, she also enjoys unwinding to music, some of her favorites being Billy Joel, Andy Williams, CAS, to name a few.
