What Does It Mean To Be An Empowered Woman?

There have been many empowering women throughout history who have graced our world with their existence, just to name a few:

  • Cleopatra VII (69 BC - 30 BC): Cleopatra was the last Pharaoh of ancient Egypt and was known for her intelligence, political savvy, and leadership skills. She was a strong ruler and made significant contributions to the arts, sciences, and trade in her kingdom.
  • Boudicca (early 1st century): Boudicca was a queen of the Iceni tribe of modern-day England during the Roman occupation in the 1st century AD. She is famous for leading a major rebellion against the Roman Empire in 60 AD, in response to the mistreatment of her people and violations of their rights.
  • Joan of Arc (1412 - 1431): Joan of Arc was a French military leader who inspired the French to victory during the Hundred Years' War. She is celebrated for her courage, leadership, and unwavering belief in her mission.
  • Jane Austen (1775 - 1817): Jane Austen established the English novel as a medium for entertainment, amusement, and social comment. Her stories about the lives of middle-class people in rural England, untouched by the political unrest and wars redefining Europe at the time, are still widely read and discussed today.
  • Simone de Beauvoir (1908 - 1986): Simone de Beauvoir was one of the greatest philosophers of the twentieth century. Her famous book, The Second Sex, in which she analysed the systematic devaluation of women throughout history, scandalized post-war Europe.
