5 Things To Buy This Dhanteras

      • Many legends and folklore say that during ocean churning, the God of Ayurveda emerged to bless and heal all the sufferings of people. Marked by Dhanteras and celebrated with earthen lamps placed around the house, Indians celebrate this day with hope in their hearts and prayers in mind, believing that the Lord will bless one and all with good health and prosperity!

        What is Dhanteras?

The Sanskrit word Dhanteras, also known as Dhanvantari Trayodashi is the first day marking the grand celebration of a 5-day Diwali festival in India. Considered to be an auspicious day for making new purchases, Indians celebrate the grandeur of the illuminating night by purchasing precious metals like gold, silver, steel utensils and other valuables to ensure the arrival of a happy and prosperous future.

        When is Dhanteras 2021?

This year, the pious day of Dhanteras falls on the 2nd of November, commencing the festival of lights, Diwali!

        Why do Indians Celebrate Dhanteras?

Dhanteras is celebrated worshipping Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Kubera with the hope of a blooming and bright future. It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi brings along great fortune and prosperity to everyone and blesses us with infinite wisdom and knowledge.

Dhanteras Muhurat is called to be a sacred time to make high-value purchases. This day also engages in the theme of renewal, good energy, cleansing, and securing the auspiciousness as embodied by Goddess Laxmi. Similar to the sacred time is the golden hour, known as Dhanteras Puja Vidhi when everyone offers prayers and chants the name of gods and goddesses in complete faith and harmony.

What Things to Buy On Dhanteras

Here are some Dhanteras Tips as to what things are considered Shubh, i.e., pure and holy to buy on this auspicious day.

        1. Gold and Silver

Investing in Gold and Silver metals amplifies your wealth and bestows good luck upon you when bought on the pious day of Dhanteras. Therefore, a lot of women shop for gold jewelry on this day.

        2. Utensils

Utensils in copper, silver, and brass are considered lucky and should be filled with rice grains or water before taking them inside the house. One should avoid buying utensils made of steel and iron on this day.

        3. Broom

Buying a broom on Dhanteras is believed to remove all the financial troubles and purify the house against toxic and disturbing energies.

        4. Electronic Items

One can invest a good deal in electronic items or gadgets as the more you invest the higher luck gets showered upon you.

        5. Business-Related Work

Dhanteras Muhurat is considered to be a vital time of the inauguration and setting up a new business venture. Most Indians with the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi commence their new work with a Dhanteras puja to ensure success and prosperity.
